(Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York, NY)
The Translational and Molecular Imaging Institute (TMII) at The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is seeking an Associate Researcher to work on their Mediso nanoScan 122S micro PET/CT imaging system. Anticipated start date for the position is immediate.
TMII is located in the newly built Hess Center for Science and Medicine, equipped with state of the art multiple research-dedicated human and animal imaging systems (9.4T, 7T, 3T, 1.5T, integrated MR/PET, PET/CT, MDCTs, near infra read fluorescence, bioluminescence, ultrasound), among other instruments.
The position will require interaction with a dynamic group of a diverse team of multi-institutional investigators. Previous experience with PET and CT imaging in small animals is highly preferable.
The candidate should have a Bachelor of Master degree in engineering, chemistry, physics or any related field. Specific tasks will include:
Performing imaging studies for internal and external Investigators requiring the services of the Small Animal imaging Core. This will include setting up study specific PET and CT protocols, operating the system, as well as handling of animals (mice, rats, rabbits) and radiotracers injection
Performing QC, calibrations, backups and maintenance of the micro PET/CT system as needed
Maintenance of the space dedicated to the use of radioactive materials, including proper disposal, decay and segregation of radioactive waste, disposing of non radioactive trash (including biohazardous waste and sharps), and replenishing consumables
QC, calibration and maintenance of gamma counter and dose calibrator in the space dedicated to the use of radioactive materials
Wipe tests of all rooms dedicated to the use of radioactive materials
Training of new users on working with equipment (micro PET/CT, dose calibrator, gamma counter), and in working in the space dedicate to the use of radioactive materials
Maintaining logs for waste and all paperwork related to safe use and handling of radioisotopes, according to State and Mount Sinai guidelines
Appropriate training for each task will be provided, and tasks will be performed under the supervision of the research team.
Salary will be commensurate with the cost of living in New York.
Please send a CV and brief statement of research interests to Dr. Zahi Fayad at email@example.com.
The candidate should have a Bachelor of Master degree in engineering, chemistry, physics or any related field.
