The Executive Director of Imaging Services has primary responsibility for the operation and development of radiology services across the Cone Health system. This position is accountable for the planning and implementation of programs and processes that assure the provision of cost-effective, high quality radiology services that fully meet the expectations of patients and of referring physicians. This position is particularly challenged to coordinate and to integrate key radiology support services across the system, to rationalize clinical services and technology, to support the particular imaging services needs of Cone Health’s various sites, to develop and to execute plans for the implementation of digital image storage and transfer systems, and to identify opportunities for expansion of Cone Health radiology services within our market.
The Executive Director works in a complex matrix structure reporting directly to the Vice President of Heart and Vascular Services and Imaging Services and the Radiology Executive Board and has frequent and regular contact with the Chief of Radiology and Medical Staff leaders as well as radiologist, radiology leadership, and staff. In addition, the Executive Director works closely with each Cone site/campus leader to coordinate care and services specific to the campus’ services and needs. The Radiology Executive Board is composed of Cone Health executive leadership and Greensboro Radiology leadership and serves as a steering and planning body for radiology services across the System. Directors of Radiology at Wesley Long, Annie Penn, Alamance Regional Medical Center and Ambulatory Imaging Services, report to their respective site/campus leaders, and also report in a matrix structure to the Executive Director of Imaging Services. The Director of Radiology at Moses Cone Hospital, the Radiology Systems Business Manager, Centralized Scheduling Supervisor, Radiology Quality Coordinator and Administrative Assistant also reports to the Executive Director.
Manage the routine operations of the radiology services’ sites in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
Plan and implement programs to assess and appropriately integrate radiology services across Cone Health including patient scheduling, image archive management, radiology information systems support, coordination of clinical services at each site based on Cone Health's strategic needs, staff training and development, and other services as identified.
Lead the development and execution of a multi-year plan for implementation of systems for digital image acquisition, storage and transfer across Cone Health sites, physician offices, remote sites, etc.
Works closely with the Chief of Radiology and other radiologists to integrate communication and planning of health system and radiologist services assuring both the appropriate provision of radiology services operation and leadership across the system and appropriate Cone Health support for Greensboro Radiology Services’ operations, planning, and development.
Plan and implement programs for sound radiology financial management including staffing and position control, non-salary expense management, accurate revenue capture and collection, and sound competitive used of capital funds. Implements processes and workflow to minimize denials and write-offs.
Establish programs for the assurance of quality radiology services with respect to patient care, support of referring physicians, technical quality, and to assure compliance with radiology regulatory standards. Assures operations reflect the regulatory requirements from Joint Commission, NC Radiation Protection Section, FDA, and American College of Radiology.
Identify and recommend plans for the development of new market opportunities for Cone Health radiology services. Collaborates with Director of Ambulatory Imaging Services to expand outpatient imaging.
Demonstrates personal commitment to quality and accountability standards.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
3 – 5 years of progressively responsible leadership and administrative experience in a health care setting; mid- to large health system experience preferred.
A minimum of 5 years’ experience managing and supervising a complex radiology facility and/or radiology service line and/or comparable medical operation.
Demonstrated successes in strategic planning, business development and marketing, healthcare operations management, financial management including accountability for margin; quality management and performance improvement; relationship management and talent development.
Experience developing interventional and ambulatory radiology services preferred.
Demonstrate creativity and ability to guide others through change and to new levels of understanding while building positive, constructive relationships.
Diplomacy while being assertive, encouraging, and results-oriented.
Ability to manage detail, assure accuracy and produce results.
