Role Summary:

Performs a variety of technical procedures while utilizing good independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative. Correctly and safely applies prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis. Assumes responsibility for designated areas, personnel and procedures, as required. Reports directly to the LEAD X-Ray Technologist. Is accountable for the delivery of efficient, high quality services to the patient, physician and all customers while providing high quality exams utilizing the protocols and guidelines set by the Department of Imaging Services. Rad. Tech II shall be responsible for maintaining and stocking of supplies, rooms and equipment or other assigned duties. He/She has the responsibility of protection and safety for themselves, the patients and co-workers. He/She is expected to maintain high standards of technical competence and participate in any unit specific training that may be needed. The Rad. Tech II participates in on-call coverage for the modality as part of the essentials of the job requirement.


Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for taking X-rays of areas being examined
• Correctly provides the images to doctors and other medical personnel
• Communicates effectively with the rest of the care team, as needed
• Ensures that patients are comfortable and safe
• Multi-modality certifications highly desirable (e.g. registered in CT, MR, Mammography, Bone Densitometry, etc.)
• Associate may work in more than one modality, as needed

Department/Unit Summary:

• Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital currently offers the following imaging services: Mammography, Bone Density Imaging, Diagnostic Imaging/X-ray, MRI, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, CT, and Interventional Radiology services. We are proud to say that both our Ultrasound and Mammography services are ACR accredited. Associates have both inpatient and outpatient opportunities.
