Job Summary The Certified Tumor Registrar is responsible for performing all functions associated with the maintenance of the Harris Health System Cancer Registry; case finding, abstracting, follow-up, participating with registry quality assurance functions, and tumor boards.
Degrees/Work Experience: Associates Degree with completion of the Cancer Data Management program via an approved program by the National Cancer Registrar Association (NCRA) and One (1) year of experience as a Certified Tumor Registrar preferred but not required.
HS Diploma or GED with completion of the Cancer Data Management program via an approved program by the National Cancer Registrar Association (NCRA) and Two ( 2) years of experience as a Certified Tumor Registrar required.
Communication Skills: Exceptional Verbal (e.g., Public Speaking), Writing /Correspondence, Writing /Reports
Proficiencies: Personal Computer
Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities: Analytical, Medical Terms

Equipment Operated:Basic Desktop Computer knowledge; Proficiency with cancer registry software Elekta/Metriq preferred.
Other Requirement: Basic analytical skills necessary in order to determine completeness and interpret medical information on diagnosis and treatment of cancer. Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for up to 80% of work time when abstracting.
