Reporting to the VP of Strategy and Planning, the Corporate Director of the Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (EPMO) at ChristianaCare is responsible for standing up and leading a high-performing EPMO that will mature over time while clearly and consistently demonstrating organizational value. The ChristianaCare EPMO encompasses three areas of focus: strategy realization, initiative portfolio management and oversight of corporate project management. The EPMO leader will operate at a strategic level and collaborate with senior leaders to prioritize, measure and monitor projects to ensure alignment with goals and execution of strategy. This leader will serve as a change agent and as the resident expert on best practices in enterprise portfolio management. The position requires a passion and skill for creating and implementing new organizational structure and processes that foster organizational growth and maturity.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Strategy Realization - Manages initiative approval process and provides expertise and recommendations to executive steers and other governing bodies; Prepares and presents benefit/risk analyses for initiative assessment and ensures a fair and consistent evaluation process; and ensures initiative performance metrics are defined and achieved to support an overall commitment to strategy realization
Portfolio Management - Recommends and presents prioritization of initiatives to the Executive Cabinet (CEO and direct reports); Develops an approach for appropriate distribution of resources across initiatives; Determines initiative sequencing and manages implementation risks; Integrates and monitors strategic initiatives and business operations initiatives across the organization; and surfaces gaps in strategic plan implementation and documents progress toward enterprise strategic goals
Project Management - Builds expertise in execution and project management including setting standards and coordinating learning and development for project managers across the organization; Oversees enterprise resource management to ensure effective and timely execution of high priority initiatives; and identifies barriers and conflicts (resource, timing, financial, sequencing) between multiple initiatives and project teams. Resolves issues before they become barriers to successful implementation
Develops a long-term vision and build-out plan for the EPMO function to scale up and mature with organizational growth
Coaches organization leaders to foster a deep understanding of enterprise portfolio management governance, processes, tools, methodologies, and resources
Works closely with champions, sponsors, and stakeholders to guide initiatives through the approval process, determine sequencing and timeline for initiatives, focusing on maximizing enterprise strategic realization
Creates a cohesive, high-performing team of program/project managers and business analysts who partner with senior leaders in initiative conception through successful implementation
Develops a 360-degree view of competing initiatives and resource requirements to allow decisions to be made in the best interest of ChristianaCare
Oversees central tracking and dashboard for prioritizing, measuring, and monitoring initiative outcomes
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Master's degree in Business Administration or Health Administration or another related field required
10+ years managing strategy realization and portfolio prioritization and related project management experience
Demonstrated competency in strategic thinking and leadership with strong abilities in relationship management and organizational dynamics
