The Pathology Department is seeking a Lab Aide in our Histology Service

Ensures staining solution levels are within the established range.Changes/rotates staining solutions after established number of slides have been stained. Presents one slide per rack to supervisor to be checked for staining quality.Rotates reagents/supplies according to dates received and/or expiration dates.Assembling slides according to case number in slide tray with corresponding requisition slip. Sign out case by verifying each block in computer with presence of the slide tray. Deliver sign out cases to pathologists or fellows.
Maintains competency in the clerical and related work of the laboratory, record keeping of reagents and chemicals, telephone coverage, and other related duties. Works under direct supervision of senior technologist, laboratory supervisor or manager of the clinical laboratory.
Prepares and maintains organized laboratory requisition and result files. Submits, processes and follows up on orders for laboratory supplies and equipment.
High school plus 1-2 years of technical education or experience.
Ability to work as part of the team and independently when required.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for interfacing with Service Chiefs, Department Chairs/Directors, Administrators, Managers, attending staff, principal investigators and peers outside division. External contacts: Vendors
