The incumbent serves as a Staff Psychologist within the Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program (RRTP) providing a wide range of psychological services targeting Substance Use Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and other co-occurring Mental Health Disorders at VA Central Western Massachusetts Healthcare System located in Leeds, Massachusetts. Duties include but are not limited to: Clinical Responsibilities (80% of time) Provides a full range of psycho-diagnostic services including assessment and using the most appropriate psychotherapeutic techniques in providing quality care to patients served within the RRTP. Performs specialized evaluations for veterans with psychiatric and substance use disorders, and/or in need of behavioral management or contingency plan in a residential setting. Provides a full range of therapeutic interventions including individual therapy, group therapy, and psycho-education classes. Best practices, practice guidelines and evidence-based treatment protocols are utilized to the extent feasible in all therapeutic interventions. Provides comprehensive evidence based psychotherapeutic (EBP) interventions for SUD and PTSD. Incorporates principles of measurement based care into treatment planning and interventions. Develops person-centered, culturally sensitive treatment plans to address rehabilitation and recovery needs of patients. Participates in the admission and discharge process including admission screens and discharge planning. Provides clinical supervision and instruction for psychology interns, post-doctoral psychology fellows, social work interns, and licensed social workers seeking senior social work licensure. Supervision includes, but is not limited to, individual, group and live supervision as well as in-person supervision (e.g., co-leading groups), and video/audio-tape review. Participates in on-going and advanced required training to provide for clinical supervision of psychology and social work interns. Consults with medical center staff on a wide variety of patient care issues, particularly related to acute psychiatric conditions; maintains a current knowledge based of pertinent literature and research publications. Conducts evaluations to aid in the differential diagnosis of complex cases. Complies with national and local performance measures, including timely health care screening and completion of clinical reminders for all patients. May be involved in program evaluation and/or research activities as the opportunity and interest arises. Is responsible for timely completion of all clinical charting and documentation required by the Medical Center of healthcare system, as appropriate. Adheres to operational policies and procedures for health care as directed by the Medical Center and Psychology Service Management.
