The Columbus VA Medical Center is recruiting for a full-time Physician (Gastroenterologist) within Specialty Care Service at the Chalmers P. Wylie VA Clinic. Duties include but are not limited to: Diagnosing, treating, and managing patients referred for management of GI disorders based on standard and customary methods and techniques in the outpatient setting. Procedural duties include performing diagnostic and therapeutic upper and lower endoscopy procedures, and PEG placement. Responsible for administration and management of moderate/conscious sedation used during procedures. Responsible for completing patient encounters, outpatient consults, notes, and coding visits in accordance with coding guidelines. Demonstrates interpersonal skills that enhance the effectiveness and accomplishments of the service. Demonstrates verbal and written communication skills that are commensurate with the responsibilities of the position. The physician will be expected to cooperate with and participate in medical duties or functions related to quality of care, peer review, potentially serving on facility committees and other performance improvement activities, and other duties as assigned.
