This Medical Technologist (Laboratory Information Manager/Contracting Officer Representative) works in the Laboratory Service at the VA Southern Oregon Rehabilitation Center and Clinics in White City, Oregon. The duties of this position include but are not limited to the following: Ensure interfaces with instrumentation and key printers are maintained. Implement new patches or changes in instrumentation in a timely manner and test thoroughly to detect problems in ordering, accessioning, or resulting lab tests. Detect, when possible, promptly address, and resolve disruptions in the laboratory service stemming from the software package, instrument interfaces and middleware. Serve as the principal contact for all laboratory interactions with facility Information Technology (IT) department and Clinical Application Coordinator (CAC). Monitor, and where possible, improve the HIS interfaces used by providers to order and look up lab results. The latter typically involved working closely with clinical staff, Information Technology (IT) Department, and Clinical Application Coordinator (CAC). Develops, recommends and writes new policies and procedures (SOPs) regarding the installation and use of the Laboratory Information System (LIS) in conjunction with the overall Hospital Information System (HIS). Independently plans and executes the procedures necessary to complete the work assignment and handles concerns in accordance with established protocols or accepted laboratory procedures. Serves as a recognized subject matter expert (SME) to provide authoritative advice and consultation on the Laboratory Information System. Monitors computer resources and makes recommendations to higher level authorities regarding allocation or future software and hardware needs. Serves as the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) for various contracts for the service, providing oversight of goods and services delivered and ensuring standards of adequacy are met to ensure compliance with the terms of the contract, in order to properly authorize payment. Monitors the continued need for such contracts and makes changes accordingly. Procures sharing agreements, both federal and private sector, between the laboratory and outside entities. Tracks revenue and performs cost/benefit analyses associated with these sharing agreements. Work Schedule: 8am - 4:30pm, Monday through Friday Telework: Available.
