This position serves to improve the healthcare of patients at the BVAMC. The clinical duties of this position include serving as an attending neurologist and performing inpatient and outpatient consultations, diagnosis, treatment and management of patients with signs or symptoms of neurologic dysfunction. The Neurologist will ensure communication with the hospitalists regarding inpatients and/or potential admissions. The Neurologist will also interpret EEGs and Evoked Potential Studies as well as perform EMGs. The neurologist performs telehealth functions using VA video connect and Clinical Video Telehealth. They will participate in the VA Tele-stroke program. The staff Neurologist exercises corporate citizenship by serving as a leader and/or active member on Medical Center committees as requested and attending Medical Service Staff meetings and meetings of the Medical/Dental staff. Teaches effectively and creatively and provides guidance to others involved in the delivery of the educational program. Maintains Basic Life Support Certification and completes all mandatory training by due date. The position may require participation in regular meetings, committees and boards as deemed appropriate by the Chief of Staff and/or Associate Chief of Staff over Medicine.
