Provide physical therapy services to patie nts/clients who haveimpairments, functional limitations, disabilities, o r changes inphysical function and health status resulting from injury, d isease, orother causes; provide prevention and wellness services, includ ingscreenings and health promotion. The senior serves as a resource pers onforthe team and the department: participates in orientation of newstaf f therapists, physicians and other health personnel. The seniorparticipa tesin teaching activities for physical therapy and otherhealth related s tudents. The physical therapist works withinpracticeguidelines as define dby North Carolina state law.
Duties a ndResponsibilities of this Level: See Departmental criteriafor each dut ylisted, and Departmental criteria for clinical ladder.Physical Therapis tDemonstrate & articulate sound clinical reasoning in synthesizingcomple xevaluation data identifying diagnosis and developing acomprehensive pla n of care.Develop and update appropriate plan of care in collaborationwi th thepatient/family and related to the person's age and lifestyle with measurable long and short term goals and a defined D/C planUnderstandthe role of physical therapy in the context of the patient'sage, total needs perspective and environmentPerform age appropriate competency skills in area of practice and withrespect to individual patient's problems.Follo w intervention protocols and alter plan of care appropriately.Dischargep atient when goals have been met or medical necessity is nolonger warrant s intervention.Establish provisions for continuing services/followup as needed.Meet competency skills for evaluations in area of practice.Consis tently meet patient care productivity standard as established forjob cla ssification.Work cooperatively with supervisors and peers to contribute to theoverall productivity of the team.Utilize support personnel (aides, sr aides, assistants) as appropriateand available.Actively support and participate in patient coverage efforts across alldivisions withinthedep artment as necessary.Assess the learning needs and capabilitiesof patien ts and caregivers.Initiate patient and family education in a timely mann er relative toage,LOS, readiness to learn, and emotional status.Utilize appropriate methods and materials for effective learning,monitoringrespo nse to education, and adapting program appropriately.Ensure that patient /family understands when and how to access furtherintervention.Patient c are documentation is timely, legible, and efficient.Documentation is con cise, pertinent and meets the professions anddepartments documentation s tandards.Oral reporting is clear, concise, relevant, and timely.Perform all required data collection for the department accurately andwithin exp ected time frame.Peer review standards are consistently met.Provideclini cal education experiences for students as requested bysupervisor and est ablished by CCCETake 1-2 students for long term clinical rotation(Therap ist of > 1yrexperience).Adjust supervisory techniques for individual stu dent's needs.Provide outreach and learningactivities as requested which may include:in-services on related topics, generating referrals,interact ing withvolunteersor visitors.Participate in data collection forresearch activities to enhanceclinical outcomes.Perform other related duties inc idental to the work described herein.

Bachelor's degree or certification in physical therapy, with Master's or Clinical Doctorate in physical therapy preferred.
None beyond required education, although more experience may be preferred at times.
