Under the direction of a Cardiologist performs Nuclear Medicine procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail

Performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgement with ingenuity and initiative in utilizing radionuclides for diagnosis

Assumes responsibility for designated areas of procedures required

Operate all radiographic equipment according to equipment specifications (i.e., cameras/ uptake system, unit dose manager, teleradiology equipment)

Adheres to infection control and safety practices

Maintains work area in a neat and orderly fashion

Follows good radiation safety practices; i.e coning, shielding, film badge monitoring, according to state and federal guidelines

Maintains processors, diagnosis processing problems and takes appropriate action

Maintains patient records according to department, state and federal procedures

Properly assess patient according to exam ordered with appropriate documentation; Check orders for accuracy  

Provide patient prep for procedures, including patient education pertinent to exam being performed

Consent patient for procedure 

Accurately and completely records patient information in EMR

Meet productivity standards regarding wait times and turnaround times for patients

Is committed to continued professional growth and development

Participates in training of new staff and students

Performs other duties as assigned

 

Licensure or other certifications: Current ARRT or NMTCB required, registry eligible within 12 months from date of hire

Cardiology requires BLS certification

Educational Requirements: Associates Degree or equivalent required

Graduate of accredited ARRT or NMTCB Program

Ability to perform quality Nuclear Medicine procedures

Good interpersonal communications

Ability to work effectively with others

Basic computer skills
