General Description of the Job Class
As a member of the Duke Pharmacy leadership team, the coordinator is responsible for providing clinical and administrative leadership for the Investigational Drug Services (IDS) staff.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in planning, design, implementation and demonstrates the value of pharmacy services
Recruits excellent new employees for the IDS team
Oversight for scheduling of IDS staff
Responsible for performance coaching evaluations of all IDS staff members
Coordinates and schedules staff meetings and tier I safety huddles within IDS
Participates in the Duke Quality System through tier huddles
Maintain and implement policies and procedures for the IDS pharmacy
Meet with investigators and research coordinators regarding IDS services
Provide specialized pharmaceutical research services to improve study integrity and outcomes
Participate in preparation and dispensing of investigational products to study participants
Meet with clinical study monitors during site visits as needed
Lead audits conducted by regulatory and compliance groups such as FDA and CTQA
IRB membership with participation in at least 6 meetings per year
Serve as a resource for physicians and pharmacists for all aspects of the clinical research processes and use of non-approved drugs under a compassionate use basis
Participate in on-call coverage for investigational drug service needs at Duke University Hospital
Contribute to student and resident education
Work with peers to achieve division and departmental goals
Maintain familiarity of all departmental programs and work as an integral part of the pharmacy team
Participate in Investigator's meetings

Required Qualifications at this level
Education
Doctor of Pharmacy degree OR BS Pharmacy Degree
Experience
Two years of pharmacy practice experience; Managerial/supervisor experience preferred; Research experience preferred
Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification
Licensed Pharmacist with the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy
Knowledge, Skills, and abilities
Relevant experience in investigational pharmacy services
Working knowledge of research methods and processes
Effective communication skills
