Mercy Hospital St. Louis is currently seeking a OBGYN Residency Program Director in St. Louis, Missouri.
General Overview: The Program Director of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program has the responsibility, authority, and accountability for: administration and operations; teaching and scholarly activity; resident and faculty recruitment and selection, evaluation, and promotion and remediation of residents; supervision of residents; and resident education in the context of patient care. The Program Director is responsible for the standards, quality, reputation, and ongoing improvement of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program.
Qualifications:
Board Certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology and licensure or eligibility for licensure in Missouri with at least three years of experience in Obstetrics and Gynecology
Prior administrative leadership experience in medical education strongly preferred
A national and/or international reputation for achievement in clinical, educational, and/or research pursuits that would warrant a tenured appointment
Engagement in active clinical practice
Excellence in leadership and problem-solving skills
Demonstrated commitment to human rights and equality
Excellent communication skills and demonstrated interpersonal skills, allowing for transparency, respect, effective problem resolution, and ethical decision-making
A successful track record of mentorship and accountability
Demonstrated experience promoting an inclusive culture in the workforce and academic environment
A leadership style that assists others before oneself and holds others accountable to agreed-upon objectives
Responsibilities:
Responsible for the ACGME accreditation and compliance associated with the Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program as outlined by the ACGME Common Program and Specialty Specific Requirements
Design and conduct the program in a fashion consistent with the needs of the community, the mission of Mercy Hospital St. Louis, and the mission(s) of the program.
Administer and maintain a learning environment conducive to educating the residents in each of the ACGME competency domains.
Recruit and select diverse candidates for the residency program through the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP)
Recruit, select, and maintain a diverse faculty with the skills and knowledge to safely supervise resident clinical care and support educational learning experiences
Ensure the quality of the clinical learning and working environment, didactic conferences, and scholarly activity opportunities at all sites that participate in the program.
Provide a learning environment in which residents can raise concerns, report mistreatment, and provide feedback in a confidential manner as appropriate, without fear of intimidation or retaliation
Ensure the program's compliance with Mercy Hospital's policies and procedures related to grievances and due process, including when action is taken to suspend or dismiss, or not to promote or renew the appointment of a resident
Ensure the program's compliance with Mercy's policies and procedures on employment and non-discrimination

The Mercy Hospital St. Louis OBGYN Residency program is a long-established and well-regarded community-based program located in the suburbs of St. Louis County. Our department supports 24 residents and over 30 core faculty who practice in the breadth and depth of OBGYN with faculty in all the subspecialties. Our residents graduate with the skills, knowledge, and attitudes needed to proficiently care for women whether they choose to pursue fellowship or a career as a specialist in OBGYN. A highly rigorous curriculum with foundations in evidence-based education has demonstrated exceptional outcomes in our 3-year ABOG qualifying and certifying exam pass rate of 100%. Additionally, our program is in excellent standing with the ACGME and without citations or areas of concern. Scholarship and education are present in our research activities that provide residents and faculty opportunity to present at national society scientific meetings and supports medical student and physician assistant student rotations.
Mercy Hospital is a 979- bed, Level 1 Trauma Center, fully accredited teaching hospital, offering major gynecologic surgeries with Minimally Invasive Surgeons, Urogynecology, Gynecologic Oncology. The Department of OBGYN at Mercy Hospital is a thriving, busy department with over 100 practicing OBGYNs, both Specialists and Subspecialists. We have over 8,500 births each year, a Hospital Based Birthing Center, Hospitalist faculty, large Maternal Fetal Medicine group and a Level III NICU.
