JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a Cardiac/Vascular Sonographer for our Raleigh and Morrisville clinics located in Raleigh/Morrisville, NC to provide patient and provider support by using ultrasound imaging technologies to aid in diagnosing and treating cardiac conditions. Imaging includes echocardiograms, stress echo's, treadmills, carotids, AAA, renal and upper and lower extremity ultrasound. Position requires entering preliminary interpretations on all procedures.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Demonstrates proficiency by performing routine and urgent echocardiograms, including but not limited to 2-dimensional, 3- dimensional, Doppler, and Stress Echocardiogram, as requested by physician and in accordance with standard practices.
- Accurate documentation and measurements for procedures performed and studies appropriately assigned.
- Ability to thoroughly, and efficiently, evaluate pathology following current guidelines (American Society of Echocardiography (ASE), American College of Cardiology (ACC), etc.).
- Analyze patient's medical record and prepare paperwork for each study to obtain history of symptoms and necessary information for performance of diagnostic procedures. Ensure all necessary documentation is available.
- Communicates technical and patient care related information according to established processes and timelines
- Respond to patient questions about procedures and equipment prior to starting the imaging process.
- Operate equipment necessary to perform all required procedures and to obtain optimal diagnostic recording; utilize ancillary devices such as selected transducers, digital networking system, off-line analysis systems as indicated.
- Stock rooms, maintain a neat, clean safe working environment and ensure equipment is properly maintained and thoroughly cleaned.
- Monthly ICAEL and ICAVL reporting.
- Assist in the reaccreditation process and quality improvement program for the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission Echocardiography (IAC-Echo).
- Attends required staff meetings and ensures ensuring continuing education requirements met to support professional growth and certification.
JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)/Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) Certification in Adult Echocardiography (RDCS or RCS respectively), or CCI Advanced Cardiac Sonographer (ACS) certification
- New graduates of an accredited cardiac ultrasound program must obtain ARDMS/CCI credential within one year from graduation date.
- Individuals cross-trained in echocardiography or working to fulfill clinical experience to meet pre-requisites for credentialing must obtain certification within two years from the start of training.
