Overview

St. Luke's Health System in Boise, Idaho is seeking experienced CST's looking to further their career with high-acuity call cases as an Innovative Certified Surgical Tech to join our Boise OR team. This is a great opportunity to opportunity to learn valuable experience in pediatric trauma!

Schedule: Five week rotation: 7 on first call, 7 off, 7 on second call, 4 off with three in-house 12 hours shifts (Friday, Saturday, Sunday). Call hours are Monday - Friday 7pm - 7am, Sat & Sun are 24 hour call which rotates between first and second call. 36 in-house hours every 5 weeks with the rest of the hours being on-call only. This schedule provides up to 176 days off per year!

Position Summary:

The Innovative Certified Surgical Technologist is responsible for identifying and securing instrumentation and equipment needed for invasive procedures and demonstrating proficient use and implementation of the same. Employees assigned to this position have a contract they sign for the 7 on 7 off program.

Responsibilities

• Performs pre-operative procedures such as selection and placement of surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment.
• Assists surgeon and designated assistants in invasive procedures, passing instruments and supplies and anticipating the needs of the surgical team.
• During the surgical procedure provides instruments, sutures, and other sterile supplies.
• Helps prepare, care for, and dispose of specimens taken for laboratory analysis and helps apply dressings.
• Applies basic knowledge of anatomy & physiology, medical terminology and microbiology.
• Applies knowledge related to emergency situations and surgical procedures in the operating room.
• May develop, organize and deliver continuing education topics and/or training (in-services).
• May assist in precept of students and new staff.
• Maintains a safe work environment.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

• Education: HS/GED
• Experience: None
• Licenses/Certifications:
  • American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Provider certification
  • Certified as a Surgical Technologist (CST) by National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) OR Tech in Surgery - Certified (CST-NCCT) by National Center Competency Testing (NCCT)
