Job Summary Involves identifying, building, and nurturing strong, lasting relationships with new and existing clients in relevant industry segments. The Director of Operations is responsible for providing operational leadership to UCSF Health, by driving affiliate integration initiatives, partnering on strategic planning and operational development. This position reports directly to the COO of UCSF Health Affiliates Network.
The Director is responsible for developing and implementing enterprise relationship management strategies that fully leverage UCSF Health Network capabilities and lead to growth opportunities. The director will also implement the strategic and business development efforts at affiliated hospitals/health systems to generate new business and increase customer value and drive revenue growth.
The Director of Operations is a hybrid role that serves to align operational implementation with strategic initiatives. The role implements service area operational objectives. Develops major goals and implementation plans to support strategic objectives. Leads the implementation of initiatives to support key business strategies. Operationalizes growth and physician alignment strategies. Works with key internal and external stakeholders including physicians to ensure capability and capacity of clinical services are available. UCSF Health is a growing and expanding enterprise presently comprised of UCSF Medical Center, UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals (Oakland and San Francisco), Langley Porter Psychiatric Hospital and Clinics, UCSF Faculty Practice, Benioff Children's Physicians, and other entities. UCSF Health enjoys formal affiliations and partnerships with a number of Northern California hospitals and health systems, as well.
UCSF Health brings clinical service capabilities into a unified management structure and single operating unit, achieving strategic, operational, and financial alignment between the School of Medicine, Medical Group, and the Medical Center as well as provider affiliates. Its structure streamlines decision making, strengthens the ability to act with one voice, and ensures accountability at every point to execute collectively agreed-upon commitment to excellence and efficiency Required Qualifications
Master's Degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, or a closely related field
Five (5) or more years of experience in consulting, operations, or project management or a combination of education and experience.
This is a position in a high pressured, rapidly changing academic medical center environment that requires a comprehensive understanding of all elements of health care delivery, including strategy, business planning, operations, workforce challenges, and financial conditions.
Self-starter, flexible team player who can easily work with focused direction from management and deal with a changing scope of projects
Proven ability to manage ambiguous situations with minimal direction
Must be able to work in a senior staff role while being effective as an individual and team player
Previous staff supervision and staff development experience at UCSF Medical Center
Strong ability to work collaboratively and effectively with medical center and campus leadership, as well as external agencies, other academic medical centers, and healthcare institutions.
Expertise in the development and management of operating budgets.
Strong organizational and leadership skills to solve complex issues
Advanced analytical, critical-thinking and problem-solving skills to assess complex issues and develop solutions.
Advanced planning, project management, change management, process improvement skills.
Advanced interpersonal skills to lead and work collaboratively and effectively with multi-disciplinary, cross-functional teams.
